report and photos by Andy Cline
An Earth Day tradition was once again undertaken by dedicated 8 members of YYZ Airport Watch. For several years the group has cleaned up litter at the south end of Bramalea Road adjacent to the FEDEX facility, one of our favourite locations for spotting and photography. This year, on April 22nd, eight members braved overcast skies and cold winds to do our duty for the environment and the community. In about 45 minutes we collected about 10 bags of litter and some large metal waste that had been dumped. Notably, this is less garbage than we have experienced in the past in this location, often upwards of 20 bags or more were collected on previous occasions. Thanks to Aviation World for donating supplies and GTAA Airfield Maintenance for collecting the bags. YYZAW members included, Danilo Cekrdzin, Andy Cline, Boris Fuller, and Mark Markovic, Ian Morton, Jaci and Darcy Stevens and Milan Suhadolc.
